Kulich is the Eastern name for Easter Bread. For the Eastern Slavs, festive bread was round and tall, and dough decorations were made on top of it. The cylindrical shape of the cake is associated with the church practice of baking artos.

"Kulich" refers to a sweetened, dome-shaped yeast bread, traditionally made in Russian and other Slavic cultures for Easter. It's often served with pashka (a sweet cheese pudding) and is similar in texture to panettone. The word "kulich" itself comes from the Greek word "kóllÄ«x," meaning "circular or oval loaf of bread
